Sustainability Leadership
As the first real estate firm to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, C&W actively promotes environmental best practices in our industry. So far, conservation efforts at C&W offices and properties under our management in the US have:

  • Reduced greenhouse gas emission by over 107,000 metric tons C02e – equivalent to approximately 17,500 passenger vehicles
  • Recued water use by more than 10%
  • Diverted over 7,000 tons of solid waste from landfill 

Environmental Stewardship Begins at Home:
  • All new or relocating C&W offices are built to a minimum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard of Silver Commercial Interior (CI).
  • Offices including our New York headquarters have achieved LEED CI Gold
  • In the UK, we have deployed BREEAM In-Use in our corporate offices
  • Green Office tool kits, sustainability guidelines and educational programs promote the green agenda to 13,000 C&W employees globally

Client Highlights

  • Globally, C&W has partnered with clients to secure LEED certification of more than 44 million square feet of commercial space including numbers Platinum certifications. An additional 35 million square feet registered and in-process.
  • In the US, we have helped benchmark and track energy, water, and waste of over 400 properties and facilities, representing over 100 million square feet of real estate.

Publications and Resources

The Green Building Opportunity Index. Working with the BetterBricks Initiative of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, Cushman & Wakefield has launched the 2011 edition of the first assessment tool to rank top office markets o n the basis of both real estate fundamentals and sustainable development considerations.
 
Green Valuation. As the industry’s foremost valuation advisor, in collaboration with the Cascadia Region Green Building Council and the Vancouver Valuation Accord, Cushman & Wakefield has authored High Performance Green Building: What’s It Worth? This first-in-class study identifies how value is being achieved, and how sustainable attributes impact costs, savings, investment income, and capital value.
