The ChallengeWe acted for More London Development Ltd in the leasing of a turn key hotel to be built at the award winning More London. The scheme is located between London Bridge and Tower Bridge on the south side of the River Thames.
More London, upon completion, will deliver a vibrant office, retail and leisure business estate totalling approximately 275,000 sq m including two large public squares and a 245 bedroom luxury hotel. The development covers 5.2 hectares of river front opposite London's financial district. Notable headquarters occupiers include the Mayor of London and Greater London Authority, Ernst & Young, Hewitt Associates, Actis, CDC Globeleq - Aureos Advisors, Visit London, Cargill Investor Services, Terra Firma. These are to be joined shortly by international solicitors Norton Rose and Lawrence Graham.
The outlining planning consent provides for a full service hotel, measuring approx. 13,000 sq m, to be located on plot 5 fronting More London Place, the gateway to the development.
Our brief was to secure a high quality international hotel operator who would add to the development's prestige and tenant mix.
Our ImpactOur Hotels Group approached a selected international hotelier audience interested in securing representation in central London. The team was able to utilise the dynamic marketing suite already established for letting the office and retail components of the scheme. Following a targeted marketing campaign several expressions of interest were received.
The OutcomeAfter reviewing all proposals, the Hilton Group were selected to lease the hotel. Hilton agreed to enter into a 25 year lease, the first lease signed by them on a new build project for some 3 years. The hotel is programmed to open in 2006. Hilton undertake to operate the hotel at its top brand of central London hotels.
