Global real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) announced today the start of
their activity in the residential sector in Portugal.
The services
provided by Cushman & Wakefield Residential will be focused on major investment
transactions of urban and tourist residential projects and on the sale and marketing of resort
properties to buyers originating from the markets in which C&W Residential already
operates. The team will also provide development consultancy services to clients on urban
and resort residential, and mixed use projects.
This new area will be headed by Ricardo Roquette, who recently joined C&W’s team in
Lisbon. Ricardo previously held the position of Sales Director of Westin Campo Real Golf
Resort & Spa, a resort located around 30 km west of Lisbon comprising 370 residential
units, a golf course, an equestrian centre and the international Starwood chain’s first Westin
Hotel in Portugal.
C&W Residential is currently established in 8 countries – the United Kingdom (EMEA
headquarters in London), Spain, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, Turkey and now
Portugal, and expects to start its activities shortly in the Italian, German and Scandinavian
markets.
According to Eric van Leuven, Managing Partner of Cushman & Wakefield in Portugal, “the
residential sector is a logical extension of our activity in Portugal. There are obvious
synergies with the hotel sector, which we started up very successfully in Portugal in 2005, and
also the investment area. We believe that Portugal will be increasingly sought after for second
homes by foreigners, due to our special background in terms of security, climate and quality of
the projects which will be completed over the next few years.
