Cushman & Wakefield's Scottish Professional Services team is today celebrating winning
the Professional Agency Team of the Year category at this year's Scottish Property Awards
organised by leading trade paper Property Week.
The award was one of the highlights of an extremely busy year for the department.
A major success for the team was the negotiation of a rent review of Sainsbury's foodstore
in Stirling for F&C Property, culminating in the highest rental per annum paid for a major
Scottish foodstore.
Peter Balnave, Head of Professional Services said: "It has been a terrific year for the
department and we are delighted to have been given this honour, particularly when there are a
number of good operators in the Scottish market and the bar seems higher every year.
"One of the areas where we saw a big increase was in consultancy work, particularly in
due diligence. Not only have we been doing a lot of this for our own Capital Markets team,
increasingly our key clients are calling us in for independent advice in deals introduced by
other agents, which is a huge endorsement."
Another major growth area was the firm’s valuation business, where key recruitment and
innovative marketing strategies led to a trebling in local bank valuation fee income in
2005.
John Hamilton, Head of Scotland said: "We are delighted that the team have done so well
and have received recognition for an outstanding year. Peter's approach is to continually
challenge convention, and this has produced some remarkable results for our clients."
The current Cushman & Wakefield Professional Services team in Scotland are Peter
Balnave, Craig McDonald, Mark Allan, Steph Dorward and Scott Harvey.
