Global real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) was responsible for
expanding the headquarters of the IT and communications company Huawei at Art’s Business Centre
in Parque das Nações, Lisbon. The expansion was implemented by C&W's asset management
department, headed by Bruno Silva, and is a prime example of using excellent relations and
service quality to retain tenants.
A global leader in the provision of IT and communication solutions, Huawei has now doubled
the area occupied at the end of 2011, totalling 1,506m2 of offices.
This expansion was required because of the company's growth in Portugal and its creation of
a Technology Support Centre in Lisbon, which was opened on February 15 at a ceremony attended
by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, China's ambassador to Portugal and the Chairman of AICEP.
The new centre involved additional investment of 10 million euros and follows the signing of a
memorandum of understanding with the AICEP.
Pedro Ferreira, Huawei's Country Director in Portugal, said "This centre marks the
conclusion of an important step in the company's growth strategy in Portugal, shoring up the
company's local presence and thereby reinforcing its position in the domestic market. ”
Fátima Machado of Cushman & Wakefield's Asset Management Department said “The
consolidation of Huawei's presence at Art’s is in line with our objective for the building - to
provide offices, services and solutions suited to successful companies. It is a privilege to
host Huawei and to make a contribution to a project of major economic and diplomatic importance
to the country. There is a balanced tenant mix of technology and services companies at Art’s,
with a flourishing multicultural presence. The hotel, congress centre and retail areas of the
venture are a real asset for international companies.”
The consultant's Asset Management Department has 31 office buildings and six shopping
centres under management, amounting to an area of over 310,000 m2 and an annual revenue of 43
million Euros.
