GAME, Europe's largest specialist retailer of video and computer games, has appointed
Cushman & Wakefield to act on its behalf in its expansion into Portugal.
GAME has more than 700 stores across the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Spain, Sweden, and
Denmark, and is planning an additional 90 stores in Europe for 2006.
Cushman & Wakefield's Retail team was responsible for negotiating GAME's first opening
in Portugal, in Sonae Sierra's RioSul Shopping in Seixal, near Lisbon. C&W will also be
responsible for project management and fit-out of all GAME stores in Portugal.
Michael Rodda, Cushman & Wakefield's Head of Retail in Portugal, said: "The fact
that GAME selected Portugal as one of the first batch of European countries for the opening of
new stores clearly reflects the Portuguese retail market's worldwide reputation."
According to Nick Marte, GAME's Group Property Director in Europe: "We are very pleased
to have expanded into Portugal with the assistence of Cushman & Wakefield. We have great
expectations for our operation in Portugal and are very much looking forward to our first
openings. We chose Portugal because we believe that it has a fantastic retail landscape for our
product with its multitude of world-class malls and extended shopping hours."
GAME openings are also expected for Centro Colombo in Lisboa, Estação Viana in Viana do
Castelo, Via Catarina in Porto, GuimarãeShopping in Guimarães, MaiaShopping in Maia and
GaiaShopping in Gaia.
