French luxury lingerie brand Aubade is to open its first stand-alone store in London. The circa
420 sq ft store featuring lingerie, swimwear, loungewear and accessories will open at 4 South
Molton Street in Autumn 2011. Cushman & Wakefield advised on the transaction.
Aubade was founded in 1875 in France when its creator Dr Bernard created a girdle and
corset-making company. In the 1960?s, when lingerie was considered purely functional, Aubade
was the first to reposition it as a product for pleasure and as an aid to seduction. It has
since established itself as a top-of-the range elegant and refined lingerie brand. The first
Aubade store opened in France in 2006.
Duncan Gilliard, senior surveyor, London retail team, Cushman & Wakefield, said,
"Aubade is a very strong brand which is expanding internationally and has just opened its
first store in Copenhagen. As well as South Molton Street the retailer plans to open in other
high-end Central London areas."
