Wipak establishes itself in Spain thanks to C&W
22 Jul, 2010, Barcelona
The real estate consultants for global services Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) have
worked as intermediaries between Wipak Ibérica S.L. and Grupo Ánfora in the sale of a plot at
the Llinars Can Prat industrial park in Llinars del Vallès.
Wipak Ibérica S.L. has acquired a plot measuring almost 9,000 m2 where it will build its new
headquarters, currently located in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. This investment is aimed at
reinforcing its presence in the Spanish market by investing in processes and ensuring growth
and constant improvements in customer services.
Wipak is part of the Wihuri Group, a family-run multi-national that originated in Finland and
has operated in the Spanish market for 18 years. Wipak is a world leader in the manufacture of
plastics for flexible packaging for the food and healthcare sectors. Wipak was founded in 1966
and currently has 1800 employees active in 70 countries worldwide. Wipak Ibérica is a company
with 42 employees and an annual turnover of approximately 13 million Euros.
The owner and sponsor of the project is Grupo Ánfora, who selected Cushman & Wakefield to
market this business park and several other plots within its industrial real estate
portfolio.
According to Marc Relaño, manager of C&W's Logistics and Industrial Agency in Barcelona:
"This venture is evidence that there are companies even now that continue to back
production in Catalonia, investing in new facilities to optimise the production process and
taking the decision to relocate within the metropolitan area of Barcelona . It seems that some
projects are beginning to see supply and demand, which may mean that sales prices have
normalised and are starting to stabilise."
