Dwayne Doherty Named Director of Corporate Communications and Co-Head of National Media Relations for Global Real Estate Services Firm

Dwayne Doherty has been promoted to director of Corporate Communications and co-head of National Media Relations for Cushman & Wakefield, the world's largest privately held commercial real estate services firm, the company announced today. He was previously manager of New York area Media Relations

Mr. Doherty, who joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2001, is a highly regarded public relations executive who has helped some of the world's largest real estate and financial companies increase awareness of their brands and better communicate the benefits of their products and services.

In his new role, his regional responsibilities have expanded to include prioritizing and planning strategic communications programs in key markets nationwide. Since 2002, he has been head of media relations in the New York Area, responsible for managing Cushman & Wakefield's corporate image and implementing communications strategies for the company's executives, services, clients and assignments.

New York City is home to Cushman & Wakefield's world headquarters, from which it operates more than 189 offices in 57 countries. In addition to directing media relations for its two New York City offices in Midtown and Downtown Manhattan, Mr. Doherty oversees public relations firms in Westchester, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Doherty was head of media relations for The Reserve Funds, a prominent New York-based mutual fund company with more than $10 billion in assets under management at the time. At Reserve he was the sole public relations professional, responsible for planning and implementing media relations programs and marketing communications focused at various target audiences, from brokerage firms and banks to individual investors.

Mr. Doherty has written more than a dozen feature articles on topics ranging from business to politics for Gannett Newspapers. He started his career with Corbett Public Relations, a recognized public relations and government affairs firm based in Long Island. He has a bachelor's degree specializing in public relations and a master's degree in journalism from Iona College.
