Cushman & Wakefield’s Atlanta office has successfully brokered the sale of Macon Plaza
Shopping Center located at 1576 Eisenhower Parkway, also known as Highway 80, near the
interchange of Interstate 75 in Macon, Ga., on behalf of Kimco Realty Corporation of New Hyde
Park, New York. Kris J. Cooper and Margaret K. Caldwell of Cushman & Wakefield’s
Atlanta Office handled the sale. The buyer was Atlanta, Ga., based Safeway Group Inc.
The shopping center which was constructed in 1969 and was renovated in 1992, totals 127,260
square feet, and is anchored by a 29,295 square foot Fred’s Store. It was 79% leased at
the time of sale.
“The sale of Macon Plaza confirms the continued strength of the retail investment sales
market even in a secondary market in Central Georgia. The retail capital markets’
momentum of 2005 continues to be very strong in 2006,” said Cooper, a senior director and team
leader at Cushman & Wakefield.
