Milan, March 3rd 2008 - On February 28th Cushman & Wakefield, one of the world’s largest
commercial real estate service firms, won the “Mattone d’oro” award (the Golden Brick) as the
best real estate consultancy company. The prize was awarded in Milan during the Gala Dinner for
the “Ballo del Mattone”, the most important Italian real estate event, organized by the monthly
magazine RE Real Estate.
Cushman & Wakefield won the “Mattone d’oro – Real Estate Award” as “Best real estate
advisory company”. Cushman & Wakefield surpassed CB Richard Ellis, Pirelli & Co
Real Estate Facility Management SpA and Reag Real Estate Advisory Group SpA, with over thirty
per cent of votes from the guests during the event.
Harry Farthing, Manging Director of Cushman & Wakefield Italy, received the award and
stated: “I feel pride and satisfaction in receiving this prize, which rewards the commitment
and professionalism that the Italian staff prove every day in complying with our clients’
needs. For this reason I personally thank all the people that have contributed in making
Cushman & Wakefield a united and winning team.”
Over 900 guests gathered at the renovated Palazzo del Ghiaccio in Milan, with
representatives from some of the major institutions, real estate entrepreneurs, bankers,
journalists and show-business celebrities attending the Gala Dinner to award the best
projects, the most innovative companies and the leader players of the real estate market. The
prizes were awarded on the base of nominations selected by the committee of RE Real Estate to
be voted by the guests and a special panel of exponents from the Univeristà Bocconi and the
Milan Polytechnic.
Tha Gala event was also an occasion for charity donation. The funds raised during the
“Ballo del Mattone” were assigned to two different children’s charity projects: Schools Around
the World and Fondazione Riccardo Catella. Schools Around The World is an international Charity
Programme conceived by Cushman & Wakefield to raise funds to help young people suffering
hardship and to give them a real opportunity to find their place in society. Thanks to the
funds raised at the “Ballo del Mattone”, Schools Around The World will be able to realize a new
project in Italy, following in the footsteps of its project for the Music Therapy Room of the
Piccolo Cottolengo di Tortona which was inaugurated in December 2007.
“Being the person in charge of the Italian projects of Schools Around the World, I am
excited to receive the funds of the “Ballo del Mattone”. These funds are a significative
contribution to the budget we need to start a new project to help suffering and indigent
children. These events represent an excellent opportunity to talk about the activity of the
Schools Around The World project, of which we are extremely proud” commented Harry Farthing,
who is one of the worldwide trustees of SATW.
