  • Cushman & Wakefield to Open Sacramento Office

    4 Jun, 2007, Sacramento, CA

Lures veteran professional and entrepreneur Chris Strain to lead new branch; further expands operations throughout the Americas

Cushman & Wakefield announced today the opening of a full-service branch office in Sacramento, Calif., a strategic move that will accelerate the firm’s expansion in the Western United States and considerably enhance the range of services offered to its clients in California.  The announcement brings the total number of full-service commercial real estate offices Cushman & Wakefield operates in California to 13.

Chris Strain, a 20-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry and founder of C. Strain Corporate Real Estate, has been named executive director and managing broker of the new office.  The Sacramento office is being established on the basis of the six-person operation of C. Strain Corporate Real Estate, a firm founded by Mr. Strain, and Cushman & Wakefield’s existing four-member valuation practice in Sacramento.

“Sacramento has a confluence of factors that make it an important market for us as a global firm,” said Joe Cook, Cushman & Wakefield’s executive managing director and regional manager for Northern California.  “It’s a vital part of the overall landscape for California business, government and investment, and the Central Valley is a key region for the continued growth of our Industrial Services practice.  Together with our recent investments in San Diego, Mexico and South America, the opening of the Sacramento branch represents a continuation of our efforts to expand our service offering to clients throughout the Americas.”“We have made a commitment to expand our business platform in the California Central Valley in order to deliver full-service commercial real estate solutions to our clients,” said Mr. Strain, who brings a national perspective to the Sacramento market in addition to in-depth expertise working with major clients in the area. “Our goal is to establish an operation with a full range of service lines that can address every single commercial real estate need of a business in the region.”

Mr. Strain began his commercial real estate career in 1987 with Cushman Realty Corporation in Los Angeles.  In 1994, he relocated to his hometown of Sacramento to become a partner in the highly-regarded local real estate firm Brown, Stevens, Elmore & Sparre.  In 2005, Mr. Strain founded C. Strain Corporate Real Estate, a real estate firm offering services to clients in the California Central Valley and Northern Nevada.

“Chris has the expertise and the extraordinary leadership potential to propel our new operation in Sacramento to a prominent position in the market,” according to Mr. Cook. “The commercial real estate industry is a rapidly changing environment, and we need to constantly address the increasingly sophisticated needs of our clients. The opening of the Sacramento office will help us address these needs in what is becoming an increasingly important and strategic market in California.”

In the course of his career, Mr. Strain has specialized in tenant representation and investment sales and has represented some of the most notable companies in the region and nationwide, including Bank America, EarthLink, Pearson Education, the City and County of Sacramento, University of California at Davis and Bullivant Houser Bailey.

In California, Cushman & Wakefield operates 13 offices located in major markets across the state, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, and now Sacramento - California Central Valley.
