  • Waldt Joins Cushman & Wakefield As Senior Director

    Public finance and real estate expert brings advisory experience to brokerage services

    Cushman & Wakefield today announced that Peter V. Waldt, a leading public finance and real estate expert has joined the firm as a senior director. He was previously the director of real estate development for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

    In addition to the MTA, Mr. Waldt brings to Cushman & Wakefield more than 20 years of experience in financial and planning roles at organizations including the Empire State Development Corp., the Urban Development Corp., and Metro-North Commuter Railroad.

    In his most recent previous role with the MTA, Mr. Waldt's primary mission was to generate cash flow from under- and non-performing assets. Most significantly, Mr. Waldt was charged with evaluation and brokerage services for all 14,000 parcels of MTA real estate. Additional responsibilities included the creation and implementation of the MTA Sponsorship Program, creation and implementation of the MTA Transit Orient Development Program, management of the West Side Yard & Vanderbilt (Brooklyn Arena) Yard developments, and acquisition of the Mineola Intermodal Center.

    For 12 years prior to his MTA role, Mr. Waldt was the head of underwriting for Empire State Development (formerly Urban Development Corporation, with the titles VP of Commercial Lending & Real Estate Finance and VP of Project Finance). Throughout his career, he has worked on more than 30 sports facility projects, over 100 large development projects, over 1,500 real estate financings and over 5,000 financial transactions.

    Mr. Waldt has a graduate degree in Public Policy Analysis and an undergraduate degree in History from the University of Rochester. He has been a guest lecturer at the Columbia University real estate program and a Visiting Professor at the NYU Sports Management certificate program.
