Cushman & Wakefield, the world's largest privately held real estate services firm,
announced today it has expanded its Retail Services group with the addition of Alan Schmerzler.
Mr. Schmerzler joins Cushman & Wakefield as a senior director. He was a managing director
in CBRE's Retail Services Group, and previously managed Insignia/ESG's Retail Group prior to
the merger of the two firms.

Mr. Schmerzler began his career as an associate with Edward S. Gordon Company, where he focused
on brokerage and consulting. While there, he was part of a team that represented Nautica in the
consolidation and relocation of its corporate headquarters to 40 W. 57th St.
Mr. Schmerzler went on to co-found Spring Point Corporation, a New York-based computer supply
and services company, where he developed long-term, successful client relationships with major
New York-area firms, including Chase Manhattan Bank, Salomon Smith Barney, Goldman Sachs,
Lehman Brothers, Sony Music and Bell Atlantic.
After serving as executive director of the Insignia/ESG Retail Group, Mr. Schmerzler became
managing director of CBRE's New York Retail Services Group. Bringing his broad-based business
acumen, he oversaw brokerage and staff management, recruiting, group strategy, budgeting,
technology acquisition and implementation, marketing, and internal and external
communications.
Mr. Schmerzler received his bachelor's in business administration from the University of
Oklahoma. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
