Cushman & Wakefield announced today that Matthew Cheezem has been named "Rookie of the
Year" for the South Florida region. The award is presented annually to an individual who
has shown exemplary dedication and ability to generate business opportunities, while
demonstrating teamwork and a strong work ethic.
"We congratulate Matthew on this honor," said Mike Elting, executive managing
director and Southeast regional manager of Cushman & Wakefield. "He has shown enormous
promise and a natural ability to succeed in our industry. We look forward to his continued
success with Cushman & Wakefield."
Mr. Cheezem joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2006, and is an associate with the firm's
South Florida Tenant Advisory team, which specializes in creating and executing real estate
strategies for corporate tenants in order to align their real estate holdings with their
business objectives. He currently serves as account manager for Steiner Leisure's national
leasehold portfolio, and has advised such organizations as Thomson Reuters, Penn Mutual Life
Insurance, AT&T and Talk International.
Mr. Cheezem graduated cum laude from Louisiana State University, where he received a B.S. in
Finance from the E.J. Ourso College of Business. He received LSU's prestigious Tiger Scholar
Award for his academic achievements and continued commitment to the university. Mr. Cheezem is
also an accomplished athlete, having placed in the Top 30 in the Men's NAIA National Golf
Tournament. He continues to play an active role in his community by serving on the events
committee for the South Florida chapter of Friends of St. Jude.
