  • EMI Music Publishing Relocates To Chelsea Market

    7 Nov, 2006, New York

World’s largest music publisher leases 65,493 square feet at 75 Ninth Ave.

Cushman & Wakefield announced today that EMI Music Publishing, the world’s largest music publisher, has leased 65,493 square feet at 75 Ninth Ave. The company will relocate from 810 Seventh Ave. and 1290 Avenue of the Americas.

EMI Music Publishing signed a 10-year lease at 75 Ninth Ave., located between 15th and 16th Streets. It will occupy a portion of the fourth floor at the building, also known as the Chelsea Market Building. Built in 1920, 75 Ninth Ave. is an eight-story office building totaling approximately one million square feet.

Cushman & Wakefield brokerage professionals Gus Field and Curtis Brown represented EMI Music Publishing in its site selection and in lease negotiations with the building’s owner, Jamestown. David Falk and Nick Berger of Newmark Knight Frank, exclusive leasing agents for 75 Ninth Ave., represented Jamestown.

“This was an exceptional opportunity for EMI Music Publishing to consolidate its operations and employees into one location in a neighborhood known for its energetic and creative atmosphere,” said Mr. Field, an executive vice president at Cushman & Wakefield.

“The building’s successful transformation has attracted many of the top media and communication firms in the city including The Food Network, NY1 News, Oxygen Media, and Major League Baseball Productions,” said David Falk, executive vice president and principal of Newmark Knight Frank. “We are excited to add industry leader EMI Music Publishing to the tenant roster.”

“Chelsea Market was an attractive option from a functional, operational and geographic standpoint,” said Mr. Brown, a director at Cushman & Wakefield. “EMI Music Publishing will fit well into the media-related tenant mix.”

EMI Music Publishing owns and licenses the publishing rights to music by some of the world’s leading recording artists, including Beyonce, James Blunt, Kelly Clarkson, Counting Crows, Eminem, Goo Goo Dolls, Alicia Keys and Norah Jones, among hundreds of others.
