Brokers Earn Trio of Best Deals Of The Year Awards

The Dallas Business Journal presented Cushman & Wakefield of Texas, Inc. brokers with three major awards during its annual Best Real Estate Deals award dinner on February 28th. In all, seven Cushman & Wakefield brokerage professionals were finalists for Best Real Estate Deals awards in a variety of categories.
Included in the honors bestowed upon Cushman & Wakefield was the evening’s top award, the Jerry Fults Memorial Award, given to the overall Best Real Estate Deal in the Dallas-Fort Worth area during 2007. Comerica Bank’s relocation from Detroit to Dallas, bringing a major headquarters to the Dallas Central Business District, with more than 200,000 square feet leased at 1717 Main St., was the transaction selected as the Deal of the Year. Don Dowell and Tracy Fults, of Cushman & Wakefield, represented the building owner, Metropolitan Real Estate Investors, LLC in the transaction. Mr. Fults is the son of Jerry Fults, the award’s namesake, a highly respected Dallas real estate veteran who died unexpectedly in 2004. The transaction was also selected as winner of the Best Headquarters or Corporate Campus Move.
Capital One’s corporate campus expansion to Legacy Business Park in Plano, Texas, was selected as winner of the Best Office Deal for Newly Developed Space. Bill McClung and Mike Wyatt, of Cushman & Wakefield, represented Capital One in the transaction. The new development, which is slated for completion this September, is a 450,000-square-foot campus that will house 4,500 employees.
In addition, Jean Russo, who represented National Distribution Centers in a 243,000-square-foot lease in Grand Prairie, Texas, was a finalist for the Best Industrial Deal for Existing Space and Rick Hughes and Sean Duffy, who represented Unilever in a new 822,000-square-foot development in Wilmer, Texas, was a finalist for the Best Industrial Deal for Newly Developed Space.
