  • Tesco and OBI take up space at Galeria Bursztynowa

    4 Jun, 2012, Warsaw

Tesco and a DIY retailer OBI have signed leases at Galeria Bursztynowa which is to be constructed in Ostrołęka. Therefore the scheme is 50-percent leased. Cushman & Wakefield, a leading global real estate services firm, represents the owner in the commercialisation and is responsible for its design.

Galeria Bursztynowa, whose usable space will total around 35,000 sq.m, including nearly 30,000 sq.m of retail space to let, will be constructed in Gorbatowa and Żebrowskiego streets. It will be the largest modern shopping centre in Ostrołęka with over 150,000 potential customers living within its catchment area. Narev Inwestycje, the owner of Galeria Bursztynowa, intends to begin the construction work in autumn this year in order to deliver the scheme onto the market in November 2013.

Tesco is one of the three largest retail chains in the world with over 4,820 stores in 14 countries. It currently operates 400 stores across Poland and will take up 7,869 sq.m of retail space for its hypermarket at Galeria Bursztynowa.

The international DIY and garden retailer OBI has been present on the Polish market since 1997 and operates 41 stores. This year OBI celebrates its 15 years of operation on the Polish market. It will lease a stand-alone building in the Galeria Bursztynowa complex totalling 7,962 sq.m.

Tomasz Górski, a senior negotiator from the Retail Department, Cushman & Wakefield, said: “We are currently in talks with other potential tenants who will complement the offer at the shopping centre. The presence of an international food retailer and a well-known DIY store will certainly be an incentive to other companies.”

The architect Jacek Zub with the Project Management team of Cushman & Wakefield is responsible for the design of Galeria Bursztynowa.
