Real estate veteran to head growing global practice
Following the implementation of an expanded global corporate structure, Cushman &
Wakefield announced today that it has named Brian Corcoran as Global Head of Valuation
Services.
In his new position, Mr. Corcoran will have overall responsibility for the firm’s Valuation
activities worldwide. He will focus on growing the practice globally, achieving a uniform
approach to the valuation practice and integrating global client management and business
development efforts. Mr. Corcoran will oversee a staff of 400 appraisers, including 105 MAIs,
operating in 99 offices in 57 countries.
“Brian’s experience, professionalism and inherent knowledge of the industry have been
evident throughout his 24-year career at Cushman & Wakefield,” said Christopher Lowery, CEO
Global Capital Markets and Principal Activities. “His history of servicing clients will enable
him to lead the Valuation group in its continued global development and achievements.”
Prior to taking on this global role, Mr. Corcoran was head of Valuation Services for the
United States, having had experience in appraisal and valuation for all major property types.
Mr. Corcoran joined Cushman & Wakefield in 1981. He became national director of the
Appraisal Division in 1987, and was elected to the Board of Directors and the Executive
Committee in 1991. He serves as Chairman of the Facilities Review Committee.
Mr. Corcoran has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Real
Estate Board of New York’s 1991 Robert T. Lawrence Memorial Award, Cushman & Wakefield’s
1989 Deal of the Year, the Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Appraisal Institute’s 2000
Person of the Year Award, the Appraisal Institute’s 2002 Louise Lee and Y.T. Lum Award, and
Cushman & Wakefield’s 2004 Charles E. Griffin Most Valuable Player Award.
Mr. Corcoran is a member of the Appraisal Institute, the Counselors of Real Estate, the
Pension Real Estate Association and the Real Estate Board of New York, and is a Fellow of the
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He has taught real estate appraisal and investment
analysis courses at various New York colleges and universities, and currently serves on the
Real Estate Appraisal Advisory Council of New York University’s Master of Science in Real
Estate Program.
Mr. Corcoran received his bachelor’s in business administration from Marist College.
