  • First LEED AP Broker in Los Angeles Commercial Market

20 Jan, 2009, Los Angeles, CA

Scott Steuber, a licensed real estate broker with Cushman & Wakefield, recently passed the US Green Building Council LEED Commercial Interiors exam to become the first Los Angeles commercial real estate broker to achieve LEED Accredited Professional status. Mr. Steuber’s LEED accreditation now qualifies him to advise corporations and real estate investors on how to pursue LEED certification for their buildings and office space.

With the recent passing of the Green Building Ordinance in Los Angeles, which became effective November 2008, companies involved with ground-up construction and office interiors projects of 50,000 sq ft and above for which construction costs exceed 50% of the replacement costs of the building are required to meet the intent of LEED Certification and to include a LEED Accredited Professional. The Green Building Ordinance also allows Los Angeles projects that are pursuing LEED certification to be eligible for priority plan check services and therefore shrinking those projects' construction timelines. These recent changes in city codes along with the increasing popularity of corporate green initiatives has spiked the demand and need for LEED Accredited Professionals like Mr. Steuber.

LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project is environmentally responsible, profitable, and a healthy place to work. To become a LEED Accredited Professional Mr. Steuber demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources and processes.

Specializing in tenant representation services for environmentally conscious organizations, Mr. Steuber helps corporations and real estate investors with their local, national and international leases, sales, financings and construction projects.
