• The new Outlet will be in Jerez and will open to the public in 2012
In spite of the economic difficulties currently facing the country, there are still business
opportunities available if you analyse the market and the available niches. This is what has
happened in Jerez, where the green light has just been given for marketing an Outlet project
and an addition to the retailers already located there. The developer, Grupo Senegal Parques
21, has unrivalled experience in the commercial sector, having participated in projects such as
Megapark San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) and Megapark Barakaldo (Vizcaya), among
others.
Located to the west of the city and bordering the new Jerez ring road, this Outlet Centre
completes the city's commercial offerings, which already boasted the Área Sur Shopping Centre
and Luz Shopping Retail Park, where traders including IKEA, Alcampo, Decathlon, Bricor, Worten,
Merkal and Jysk opened their doors to the public last year.
The Outlet will have a total gross letable area (GLA) of 12,000 m2, and the Retail Park
10,000 m², which will not only accommodate top national and international brands, offering
between 30% and 70% discounts year-round, but also intends to include local businesses,
traditional to Jerez.
The architecture and project design will be in the hands of Chapman Taylor, an
internationally renowned architecture firm with vast experience in these kinds of projects.
The new complex will be in the style of a typical old Jerez wine cellar, and the finishings
will be carefully chosen to create a pleasant atmosphere where the landscaping and greenery
will be very important, inviting the consumer to spend as long as possible in the centre,
enjoying the shopping experience.
According to Martin Aleñar, chairman of Grupo Senegal Parques 21, "This project is just
the addition needed to transform the zone into the commercial benchmark for the entire bay of
Cádiz, given the exclusivity of some of the businesses established there, such as IKEA, BRICOR
and now JEREZ 21 OUTLET & SHOPPING CENTRE", and even from outside the province, thanks
to its acessibility via the motorway and the parking facilities which will be increased to a
total of more than 8,000 spaces.
According to Cristina Pérez de Zabalza, retail manager for Cushman & Wakefield's
consultancy and head of marketing for the project, "This project is designed to meet the
current high demand for Outlets. Jerez really needs projects of this magnitude, to complement
the rest of the commercial offerings already established in this area of the city."
