The Gym Group, advised by Cushman & Wakefield, has announced three new acquisitions -
Gloucester Quays (16,000 sq ft), Newcastle-upon-Tyne (17,000 sq ft) and Peterborough (15,000 sq
ft) as part of its continued aggressive expansion across the UK. The Gym Group's UK portfolio
now totals 35 locations.
The Gym Group, was awarded the title 'Budget Gym of the Year' at the National Fitness Awards
and is expanding across the UK with a strategy focused on long term sustainable sites.
Jeremy Phillips, Property Director of The Gym Group said: 'We are seeing landlords wanting
to transact with a leading tenant who has a clear and sustainable business plan for future
success. We only want to open sites which will still be successful in ten years time.'
Thomas Rose, head of Cushman &Wakefield?s leisure team who is retained by The Gym Group
said: 'We are delighted to secure these new sites on behalf of The Gym Group - they continue to
provide an excellent solution for landlords where a retail tenant has collapsed into
administration or where a landlord wants a quality footfall generator. We are looking for more
opportunities across the UK and expect to have secured at least 50 sites by 2013.'
