  • Mike Elting Tapped to Bolster Alliance Program in the Americas

    22 Sep, 2011, New York

Cushman & Wakefield today announced that Michael Elting, Executive Vice President of the firm's Atlanta operations and co-head of its Alliance Program, will assume a full-time leadership role coordinating and enhancing the Alliance Program in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America and South America. Cushman & Wakefield's Alliance Program benefits clients by offering seamless and fully integrated services in certain markets via strategic partnerships with independently owned and operated firms.

In his new role, Mr. Elting will report directly to Jim Underhill, Cushman & Wakefield's CEO of the Americas, and will also coordinate various client related initiatives underway at the firm. A search committee, chaired by Mr. Elting, has been convened to select a successor to lead the Atlanta market.

"As we continue to further align the company's goals and objectives throughout the Americas, we are relying on Mike's guidance and expertise to maximize the full potential of our Alliance Program," said Mr. Underhill. "The strength of the program is an important benefit for many of our clients and its effectiveness is a top priority of our strategic growth initiative. While we are very much looking forward to Mike's full-time focus on our alliances, we also recognize the invaluable contributions he has made in successfully leading our Atlanta operations for the past 26 years. With this in mind, we have begun an aggressive search to find a replacement for Mike who can deliver the same standard of leadership and excellence he is so well known for."

Mr. Elting helped originate the company's strategic Alliance Program in 2002 with a white paper identifying the mutually beneficial advantages of forging formal relationships with independent firms in certain markets. His concept was to provide uniform and seamless coverage for clients in markets where fully owned and operated offices were not feasible. Since its inception, the Alliance Program has produced a highly efficient supplement to Cushman & Wakefield's much larger network of owned and operated branch offices in major markets throughout the world. Today the program involves strategic alliances with 26 firms in the U.S. servicing 59 cities and engages more than 700 brokerage professionals.

Having joined Cushman & Wakefield in 1979 as an Office Leasing Broker, Mr. Elting was involved with the initial lease-up of the Georgia-Pacific Center in Atlanta. In 1984, Mr. Elting assumed charge of Cushman & Wakefield's Atlanta operations, including all brokerage service lines (industrial, commercial, retail, land, financial services), as well as asset services and asset valuation functions. In 1990, 2000, and 2006, Mr. Elting was selected as Cushman & Wakefield's National Manager of the Year.

Mr. Elting holds or has held Directorships on the Atlanta Board of Realtors, the Midtown Alliance, the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Association of Realtors. He is past President of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors. His professional and civic affiliations include Central Atlanta Progress, CREW, National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Regional Development Council, ICSC, Urban Land Institute, SIOR, Board of Advisors of the Atlanta Chamber and Habitat for Humanity. He is on the Board of Directors of HealthMPowers, Bank of Atlanta and serves as a Trustee of the Atlanta Board of Realtors Foundation. He was a member of the Leadership Atlanta class of 1994.

Mr. Elting received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee.
