  • Cushman & Wakefield Professional Wins TOBY Award

    16 Nov, 2010, Chicago

Sandra Gutierrez, General Manager of One RotaryCenter in Evanston, has been honored by BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) with a TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) Award for the 250,000 - 499,999 Square Feet Category. Ms. Gutierrez is employed by Cushman & Wakefield of Illinois, Inc.

One Rotary Center is an office building in downtown Evanston with unique management requirements - it attracts approximately 2,000 visitors yearly from around the world. The management team works with Rotary to coordinate hosting 100 visitors in the building at a time, while maintaining the Class A property without disruption to tenants. In selecting Ms. Gutierrez, the judges commented: "Team works well together;" "Very impressed with engineer and management's combined knowledge of systems;" "Cleanest, most organized mechanical rooms ever;" and "Would love to be a tenant here!"

Winners, entrants, judges, and other guests celebrated at the "TOBY Awards Dinner - A Celebration of Teamwork." The celebration was held on November 10 at the Bloomingdale Golf Club, and included a talk on teamwork by Matt Szejda, Foundation and Corporate Giving Officer for the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Through the prestigious TOBY program, BOMAs around the world recognize properties that exemplify outstanding quality and management practices. According to the organization, BOMA/Suburban Chicago is proud to designate nine local properties as such this year. These properties were selected for the effectiveness of their overall management in 11 categories, including community impact, tenant relations, energy management, emergency preparedness, and training for personnel. Detailed property inspections, floor plans, and building standards completed their entry portfolios and allowed the judges to thoroughly examine all facets of the properties and their management. This was another record-breaking year for participation in BOMA/Suburban Chicago's local TOBY program, requiring four teams of judges who criss-crossed the greater Chicagoland area over two days inspecting mechanical rooms, climbing on roofs, reviewing management procedures, and rating entry portfolios.
