Veteran HR professional Ron Whitley to lead growing diversity initiatives on a global
basis
In a move to enhance its leadership in diversity in the real estate world and beyond,
Cushman & Wakefield President and CEO Bruce Mosler announced today that Ron Whitley has
been named chief diversity officer for the firm, a newly created position.
In his new role, reporting to Mr. Mosler, Mr. Whitley will drive company-wide diversity and
inclusion initiatives, practices, programs and strategies that are consistent with Cushman
& Wakefield’s business strategy.
“Ron will take his leadership skills and knowledge of our business to expand Cushman &
Wakefield’s diversity initiatives on a global basis,” said Mr. Mosler. “On an ongoing
basis, we increasingly serve a more diverse community, and we’ll look to Ron to help build a
firm that better reflects our clients.”
Cushman & Wakefield has taken a number of significant diversity steps in recent
years. The firm has a strategic alliance with Concordis Real Estate, the first minority
and women owned national real estate services firm. Cushman & Wakefield is also the
national executive partner with CREW Foundation (Commercial Real Estate Women), in a special
national program aimed at introducing teenage girls to commercial real estate careers.
Cushman & Wakefield’s two top brokers in the world in 2004 were women, Tara Stacom and
Audrey Cramer. The firm has also been very active in REAP (Real Estate Associates
Program), an initiative that provides internships for minority students. The firm has
retained as employees a number of REAP graduates.
Mr. Whitley joined Cushman & Wakefield in 1997 as a regional human resources
manager. Prior to his promotion, he directed human resource initiatives for corporate
clients in the Midwest Region and the Atlanta and Florida offices. Mr. Whitley also
served in a leadership role in managing Cushman & Wakefield’s National Diversity
platform.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Whitley was the human resources manager of diversity for
Ameritech Corporation. There he was responsible for a 2,300 employee business unit group,
developing, implementing and expanding diversity programs for the organization.
Mr. Whitley holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point. He is a member of the Society of Human Resource Professionals, and volunteers his
time to several not-for-profit organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for
Humanity and Jobs for Youth-Chicago.
