Cushman & Wakefield represents furniture dealership in move to 387 Park Ave.
South
Cushman & Wakefield announced today that Empire Office, the largest national office
furniture dealership in the United States, will relocate its corporate headquarters to Midtown
South after 60 years in Downtown Manhattan.
Empire Office signed a 10-year, 26,369-square-foot lease for the entire seventh floor and
part of the sixth floor at 387 Park Avenue South. The company will relocate from 125 Maiden
Lane, which is slated to be converted to commercial condominiums.
Cushman & Wakefield Executive Vice President Stuart Romanoff and Senior Director Jared
Horowitz represented Empire Office in its site selection and in lease negotiations with the
landlord, Rockrose Development Corporation.
“Empire Office’s new corporate headquarters will allow the firm to remain in
close proximity to many of its existing clients in a neighborhood with a diverse and vibrant
tenancy,” said Mr. Romanoff.
Founded in 1946, Empire Office provides leading businesses with office furniture and
services, including purchasing, delivery, installation and project management.
Located on the northeast corner of 27th Street, 387 Park Avenue South is a
14-story office building totaling about 200,000 square feet. In addition to Empire Office,
major tenants include Perseus Publishing, Sterling Publishing and M. Shaken Communications.
Empire Office’s lease brings the building to 100 percent occupancy.
The landlord was represented in-house by Director of Leasing Chip Sealy, and by Billy Cohen
and Matt Leon of Newmark Knight Frank.
