Galerie Fénix Vysočanská Shopping Centre launches indoor farmers’ market.
12 Aug, 2010, Prague
Cushman & Wakefield, one of the world's leading real estate consultancies, is
introducing a new trend in the field of shopping centres. The Galerie Fénix Vysočanská
Shopping Centre will soon be hosting the first indoor farmers' market.
The presence of farmers' markets within the shopping centre will increase the status of Galerie
Fénix Vysočanská and differentiate it from other shopping centres. ''These revolutionary
indoor farmers' markets are a way of responding to the contemporary lifestyle of our customers
who
want to go shopping in a sophisticated environment and be able to purchase domestic produce at
reasonable prices. At the same time, it lends the shopping environment a much more human and
personal dimension,'' explains Martin Žížala, head of the retail team at the Prague
office of Cushman & Wakefield.
The Vysočany farmers' markets will be held at Galerie Fénix in Prague 9 every Saturday at
8am on the shopping level facing Freyova and Sokolovská streets. The first market is scheduled
for 4 September 2010, with regular markets every Saturday.
Visitors can look forward to fifteen stalls at which primarily Czech farmers will offer a wide
assortment of top quality domestic produce. The diverse range of food items available at the
Vysočany farmers' markets will include fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy and meat
products, fresh
eggs, mushrooms, gluten-free sausages, herbs, juices, Csabai and other sausages, and honey
wine.
Cushman & Wakefield is constantly on the lookout for ways of improving its services and
making shopping centres more attractive places to be. Farmers' markets offer an ideal
opportunity for lending the shopping centre a human dimension and filling it with an authentic
autumn atmosphere, while also offering customers the possibility of purchasing fresh farm
products in a sophisticated environment regardless of the weather. And this is an important
factor during the autumn season.
''We anticipate a great amount of interest from Prague's citizens. The Galerie Fénix
Vysočanská shopping centre is focused on families with children, young and active people,
and it offers them a modern form of shopping reflecting contemporary trends. In addition, it is
located directly by the Vysočanská station on the B line of the metro, and provides
hassle-free parking in an underground parking garage,'' says Zdeňka Jakšič,
Galerie Fénix's director, in enumerating the project's many benefits. As there are no other
farmers' markets nearby, the project has received the enthusiastic support of the Prague 9
Municipal District.
Galerie Fénix Vysočanská, which was opened in 2008, features a supermarket and some 80
shops, including cafés and restaurants. This will be
the first time that farmers? markets are held in an environment allowing customers to combine
the purchase of fresh produce with shopping for regular groceries, relaxing in a café, or
grabbing a bite to eat at one of the shopping centre's restaurants - and all regardless of the
weather.
