  • Russia’s first outsourcing deal

    18 Jun, 2007, Moscow

Microsoft the world’s leading provider of software and business solutions has outsourced all of its real estate functions in Russia to Cushman & Wakefield Stiles & Riabokobylko. This contract represents the first outsourcing deal in Russia but reflects a growing international trend.

According to Viktoria Manzioukova, Partner & Head of Client Solutions, “this partnership will elevate the Russian real estate market alongside more mature markets in Europe and in the United States.”

Microsoft has more than 20 offices throughout Russia, and is headquartered in Moscow. C&W/S&R will advise across the spectrum of consultancy services for Microsoft to meet its real estate needs, including a strategic analysis of the company’s real estate portfolio.

This support and analysis will extend to the regions to coincide with Microsoft’s Regional Development Strategy. C&W/S&R will act for Microsoft in all its real estate transactions including lease, relocation, property management and facilities management.

Karin Sandsjo, F & A manager for Microsoft said: “What this contract represents to Microsoft in Russia is the ability to focus all of our energies on our core business while expanding across the country. Ultimately that means we are able to deliver a better service to our customers.”

This view is echoed by Natalia Kouterigina, the project manager working with Microsoft: “We believe that given our understanding of outsourcing issues, as well as keeping abreast of Microsoft’s ongoing needs, we will effectively be their real estate department in Moscow and as such will manage their needs in an efficient and cost effective manner”.

Sergey Riabokobylko, Senior Executive Director said that he expected outsourcing deals to become more commonplace. “Real Estate outsourcing is a growing international trend, because it works. We fully expect the practice to be embraced by corporate Russia as the need to stay competitive becomes more pronounced – especially as companies look to expand their operations in the regions.”
