Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) announced today that Joachim Sandberg, partner and head of
the C&W’s Rome office for the past 12 years, will be the new head of the firm’s market

Farthing who after a 23 year career at C&W, is retiring from the partnership.
Joachim joined C&W in 1996 and opened the C&W Rome office in 1998 becoming a Partner
the same year. Responsible for some of the biggest deals that C&W has undertaken in Italy,
Joachim has been resident in Italy for most of his life and has a strong Italian and
international client following.
Joachim comments: ‘I have been working with Paul Bacon and Harry on the Italian Board since
1999 and together we have developed a market-leading business. I am really excited about taking
on this challenge and believe that we are excellently placed to continue to help our clients in
these still challenging market conditions and further build our offer’
Harry joined C&W in 1987. During his successful career at the firm, he worked firstly in
the City of London Office Agency team before moving to assist Eric Van Leuven with the
development of the C&W Portuguese business in the ‘90s. He moved to Milan in 1999 becoming
Managing Director of C&W Italy in 2005. An Equity Partner since 2001, he is also a member
of C&W’s EMEA Board, and chairman of C&W’s Middle Eastern activities. In addition,
through climbs of Mount Everest and Kilimanjaro he has actively promoted C&W’s Schools
Around The World Charity which now supports 12 schools in Europe and Africa.
Paul Bacon, CEO of Cushman & Wakefield in EMEA said: “Harry has been a fantastic asset
of the firm over the years and whilst we are extremely sorry to see him leave, we are heartened
that he has been able to realise his long term ambition to start a new life with his family in
Charleston, South Carolina. Our long term succession strategy comes into effect and I am
delighted that Joachim Sandberg is taking the helm and we look forward to him continuing the
success of our market leading operation in Italy.”
Harry Farthing said: “After 23 great years at the firm I am excited to be making a new start
amongst family in a different part of the world and to dedicate more time to my ‘Bucket List’.
We have been preparing for this transition for some time and I know that Joachim will take
C&W Italy to the next level. With our successful C&W team climb of Kilimanjaro this
August I am also confident that I have also passed the torch to an excellent group of C&W
people who will continue the work of our Schools Around The World Charity across the EMEA.”
