  • Kari footwear retailer takes up space at the Plejada shopping centre

    14 May, 2012, Warsaw

Kari has signed a lease for 350 sq.m at the Plejada shopping centre in Sosnowiec. Cushman & Wakefield, a leading global real estate services firm, represented Plejada’s owner, the investment fund St Martins in the transaction.

Kari, a footwear chain of the Russian businessman Igor Yakovlev, is planning its debut on the Polish market this year. Its Polish store offering footwear and fashion accessories at the Plejada shopping centre is currently being fitted out and is due to open in late May. Kari is also taking steps to open stores in other cities, including Kielce and Wrocław. It intends to launch 30 stores in Poland by the end of this year and to increase its total number of units to 150 within three years.

Justyna Wróblewska, a senior negotiator from the Retail Department, Cushman & Wakefield, said: “We are pleased to see an attractive new brand join the tenants of the Plejada shopping centre. Kari’s products will certainly further complement the offer at the centre. We are now making many changes to Plejada as we want to refresh its image and to consolidate its position in the Silesian market. There’s a growing interest in this scheme, both among well-known and popular brands, and new market entrants. Many of Plejada’s tenants have recently renewed their leases, and some have decided to take up additional retail space.”

The Plejada shopping centre is located at 8b Staszica Street in Sosnowiec and provides over 20,000 sq.m of leasable space. It came onto the market in November 2001 and offers over 100 stores, restaurants and a Carrefour hypermarket. The shopping centre has been undergoing refurbishment for several months with shopping arcades renovated, new lighting fixtures and other interior elements fitted. The refurbishment is to be completed in autumn this year. It will be followed by the opening of the renovated part of the shopping centre, where Inditex intends to open its four stores: Zara, Stradivarius, Bershka and Pull & Bear totalling over 3,400 sq.m.
