C&W Launches 'Schools Around The World' Charity With Mount Everest Climb

On 25th March 2006, Harry Farthing, Partner and Managing Director of Cushman & Wakefield's Italian operations will commence his attempt to climb the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest, to mark the launch of the firm's new Registered Charity 'Schools Around The World'.
"Schools Around the World" (SATW) was established by Cushman & Wakefield EMEA in 2005 and aims to promote increased aspirations through educational and other activities among young people (primarily 11-16 year olds) whose opportunities are limited by social, domestic or financial circumstances.
Schools Around The World Everest Climb `06
Harry Farthing's Mount Everest climb, branded 'Schools Around The World Everest Climb `06' is the first major fund raising activity of 2006 to promote SATW and to raise funds. The climb will commence on 25th March 2006 with a summit attempt anticipated for mid to late May. This is the first of many fund raising activities by Cushman & Wakefield people to support SATW and marks the beginning of a long term fund raising effort to finance the future development of the concept.
Schools Around the World in action
The first school to benefit from SATW was the Lilian Baylis Technology School in Lambeth, South London and the aim is to establish a global network of schools in cities where the firm has offices whether it be Paris, Moscow, Chicago or Chennai and where the school has been "adopted" for assistance by that local Cushman & Wakefield office.
- Areas of assistance and opportunities provided to schools by Cushman & Wakefield and its people through its SATW Charity encompass three key areas:
- The creation of cultural and social awareness in the students through C&W hosted and organised visits outside the students' area or country of residence.
- The creation of professional and career awareness in the students through C&W hosted or organised work experience.
- The presentation and/or provision of physical challenges and activities to foster in the students the concepts of personal development through individual endeavour or team building.
In 2005, working with The Lilian Baylis School, Cushman & Wakefield people organised a range of activities for students including; cultural visits to Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon and Paris; work experience in Cushman & Wakefield's European Headquarters and with the firms clients; presentations and sporting activities.
