  • Cushman & Wakefield To Host Breakfast At National Black MBA Conference

    13 Sep, 2006, Atlanta

Real Estate Executive to discuss careers in commercial real estate

Cushman & Wakefield will host a breakfast meeting during the National Black MBA Conference in Atlanta September 29.  The firm has invited students interested in a career in commercial real estate to be its guests at the breakfast, where careers in the industry and at Cushman & Wakefield will be discussed.

“Cushman & Wakefield has taken a pro-active approach in emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusion within the real estate industry,” said Ron Whitley, chief diversity officer of the firm.  “In order to continue servicing our clients at the highest level, we understand the value of hiring the best and brightest individuals.”

Cushman & Wakefield has taken a number of significant diversity steps in recent years.  The firm has a strategic alliance with Concordis Real Estate, the first minority and women owned national real estate services firm.  Cushman & Wakefield is also the national executive partner with CREW Foundation (Commercial Real Estate Women), in a special national program aimed at introducing teenage girls to commercial real estate careers.

Cushman & Wakefield’s two top brokers in the world in 2004 were women, Tara Stacom and Audrey Cramer.  The firm has also been very active in REAP (Real Estate Associates Program), an initiative for minority professionals working at Fortune 500 companies who are seeking a career change into real estate.  The firm has retained a number of REAP graduates.  Cushman & Wakefield also has a strategic alliance with JRT, the largest women owned certified commercial real estate firm in the country.

The featured speaker at the MBA breakfast will be Mike Elting, executive managing director and southeast area manager for Cushman & Wakefield.  He is responsible for the firm’s Atlanta office and oversees its four Florida offices.  He has been with the firm since 1979 and twice was named National Branch Manager of the Year.  He received his BA degree in economics from Vanderbilt University and lives with his wife and two daughters in Atlanta.

The breakfast will take place in the Edgewood Room of the Atlanta Conference Center of the Hyatt Hotel in Atlanta on September 29 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.  MBA students wishing to attend may send their resume to ron.whitley@cushwake.com.
