  • The Savoy's restoration will sparkle with jewels from Boodles

    13 Nov, 2009,

The Savoy, which will reopen in Spring 2010, has chosen premier British family jeweller Boodles to occupy the flagship boutique being created as part of its £100 million restoration. Cushman & Wakefield, global property adviser, was appointed to identify unique British luxury brands to be considered for this prominent 850 sq ft retail space.  Situated in the lobby, the Boodles store is being designed by renowned architect Eva Jiricna and will complement the Edwardian grandeur of The Savoy’s Front Hall.

In addition to the flagship boutique, The Savoy also has a number of strategically positioned showcases in the public areas of the hotel and Cushman & Wakefield is currently in discussions with other high profile luxury brands regarding the opportunity to join Boodles in this iconic hotel.   The Savoy has traditionally been a home from home for Royalty, Heads of State, business leaders and stars of stage and screen and the reopening is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of 2010.

Peter Mace, Head of London Retail at Cushman & Wakefield, advisers to The Savoy, comments “We anticipate significant demand from UK luxury brands that are keen to gain representation beside Boodles in the unique environment of The Savoy.”

Kiaran Macdonald, General Manager of The Savoy, comments “We are delighted to welcome Boodles to The Savoy.  As the pre-eminent luxury jeweller in the UK, we feel Boodles will fit perfectly with the character of The Savoy and will add to the luxury and atmosphere of our Front Hall”.

Michael Wainwright, Managing Director of Boodles, comments “'Boodles in The Savoy is a marriage of two very English brands.  We feel it is a great opportunity to attract more overseas customers in a solus environment and look forward to the 2010 Spring opening'”

Companies interested in receiving further details on the showcases at The Savoy should contact either Peter Mace or Toby Comerford at Cushman & Wakefield.

    Notes to EditorsThe Savoy

In Spring 2010, The Savoy will unveil the culmination of a 2 year, £100 million restoration – the most ambitious and eagerly anticipated hotel refurbishment in British history.  Paying homage to its original Edwardian and Art Deco design, the project encompasses the entire building from the courtyard and famed American Bar to the public areas and 268 guestrooms.  Responsibility for this extensive restoration is being handled by the renowned designer, Yves Rochon, who has earned special recognition for his work on other landmark hotels such as the George V in Paris and the Hermitage in Monaco.

The programme heralds a number of notable highlights including the addition of a luxurious new two bedroom Royal Suite, the complete remodel of the legendary River Restaurant and the re-launch of 62 Suites some of which will enjoy iconic views over the River Thames.  In addition, The Savoy Grill will return again under the operation of Gordon Ramsay Holdings.  New to the hotel will be The Beaufort Bar and Savoy Tea, the first an opulent new venue to enjoy champagne and cocktails and the latter, a bijou teashop selling Savoy branded tea products and  patisserie.
