Global real estate consultant
Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) today announced it had
been exclusively mandated for the international sales of the residential component of
aquapura douro valley project.
Located in the Alto Douro region in the upper reaches of the Douro River Valley, aquapura
douro valley has a luxury hotel with 50 rooms and 21 villas. The property also has three
restaurants, two bars, a heated outdoor pool, tennis court, a business centre with five rooms
for meetings and events, a wine room and the biggest spa in Portugal, covering an area of
around 2,200m2.
The project includes two types of houses: Villas do Douro which have a contemporary design
and superb views over the Douro River each with terraces and small private pools, and Villas da
Vinha, which are designed in a rustic style, have private gardens with views over vineyards,
also benefiting from a shared swimming pool.
According to the chosen sales model, buy to let, the future owners of the houses will be
able to stay in their property for up to eight weeks a year, and the rest of the time the
houses will be let out to tourists. The respective return will be shared between the owner and
aquapura. During their stay the owners can also make use of all the hotel’s services,
including the spa and restaurants.
At the same time the future owners will be given the opportunity to use their allocated time
rights at any of the aquapura properties, which currently have projects under development in
Brazil, Prague and Budapest, all of which have a hotel, spa and a residential component.
According to Miguel Simões de Almeida, chief executive of aquapura hotels, villas & spa:
“The aquapura douro valley project aims to position itself on the international market
as the benchmark in Portugal for an exceptionally exclusive and sophisticated residential
tourist concept, which clearly differentiates itself due to its innovate offering and flawless
service, in a world-renowned region. Due to its extensive experience of the residential market
and its immense reach in Portugal’s main tourist markets, C&W is the ideal partner to place
a product of this quality on the market."
Ricardo Roquette, C&W’s head of residential in Portugal says, “Naturally we feel
honoured by the invitation extended to us by aquapura, which we hope we will be able to
extend to all of the remainder of the brand’s resorts, which are under development. The
aquapura douro valley project will be the first of several tourist real estate projects
to emerge in the Douro region and we believe that, as well as being pioneering, it will meet
the demands of the type of international customer that is looking for an alternative proposal,
combining lifestyle factors with investment.”
