Global real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield announced today the conclusion of
Diageo’s new headquarters leasing process, which will be located in Arts Building Lisbon’s
Parque das Nações business district.
In this transaction, Cushman & Wakefield acted on behalf of Diageo, having also
undertaken the office fit-out..
Diageo will occupy 1,400m2 of office space, corresponding to the 10th floor of blocks A and
B. The building has a total of 22,000 m2 GLA, currently occupied by companies such as Refer and
Bombardier, and it is located opposite the Office Park Expo (the future “Justice City”) on
Avenida Dom João II.
Diageo is the world’s leading company in the premium beverages sector, with a presence in
180 countries. Its activities began in 1837 with the founding of the Glenkinchie distillery,
but Diageo itself was only created in 1997 following the merger of Guinness with GrandMet. Its
portfolio includes brands such as J&B, Johnnie Walker, Baileys, Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Logan,
Cardhu, Bushmills and Tanqueray, among others.
The beverages distribution company’s decision to move its offices follows the strategic
decision to separate warehousing from the administrative departments. Diageo will now have its
central offices in Lisbon, since the logistics side of its operations was outsourced in mid
2007.
Patricia Calvário, Diageo’s HR Manager, says that “this move allows us to be closer to our
employees, given that most of them live on this bank of the river, as well as being closer to
our clients. In addition to this, we believe that both Parque das Nações and the building
itself reflect the values of modernity and quality present both in Diageo’s principles and in
our brands.”
According to Carlos Domingos of Cushman & Wakefield’s Office Agency, “Parque das Nações
is sought after by companies such as Diageo who want to combine the efficiency and modernity of
the buildings with an excellent location and good accessibility.”
