Global real estate consultant
Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), announced today that
the future Hotel
INSPIRA Santa Marta, a 4-star establishment with 89 rooms and the first
of the new hotel brand Inspira Hotels, is at a very advanced stage of construction with the
opening scheduled for the second half of the year.
Located in Rua de Santa Marta, Lisbon, very close to Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon’s main
thoroughfare, the project incorporates aspects of sustainability suited to the Inspira
concept.
Cushman & Wakefield was responsible for the sale of the plot where the hotel is being
built, which was acquired by Blandy Group and Investoc. C&W also introduced Investoc to
Blandy Group, which resulted in an strategic partnership for the development of a new,
different and innovative hotel concept in Portugal, under the Inspira Hotels insignia.
Cushman & Wakefield started its collaboration with the Blandy Group in 2005, providing
strategic consultancy services, and has been retained to search for investment opportunities,
sub-contracting and hotel management contracts, whether in operation or planning stage, with a
view to creating a new 3-4 star city hotel brand, Inspira, in the urban lifestyle and urban
retreat segment.
According to Daniel Frey, CEO of Inspira Hotels, “the environment created in the Inspira
hotels aims to provide an oasis in the centre of large cities. Within the framework of that
concept, the hotel is much more than a place of rest and well-being. This makes our hotels
places where guests can recharge batteries, since they are both meeting points and places where
things happen. We clearly favour bold and creative contemporary design, using materials with
low environmental impact, and compatible with current lifestyles”.
“We are very pleased to have succeeded in consolidating our first acquisition in Lisbon.
Inspira Hotels now has a clear development strategy in the Portuguese market, which involves
the opening of a first unit in Lisbon, to be followed by a second in Porto city centre. We very
much appreciate Cushman & Wakefield’s input, which has added value to our activity over the
past few years”, says Daniel Frey.
According to Jorge Catarino, partner and head of C&W’s hospitality team in Portugal, ”it
is very gratifying to see examples of corporate dynamism and creativity in the Portuguese hotel
industry. This process started in 2005, and shows the strong commitment of the two companies to
the hotel business. Vision, capacity to innovate and to do things differently, anticipating
clients’ needs, are the distinctive characteristics of the new Inspira Hotels brand”.
