Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) announced today that Eric Van Dyck (47), managing partner of its Belgian operation, is leaving the firm towards the end of 2010 to join Redevco as Managing Director for Belgium and Luxembourg.

As from the 1st of May, Eric will be succeeded in the role of managing partner of C&W’s Brussels office by Koen Nevens (41).   Koen joined C&W in 1994 and has successfully established and led the market leading retail warehouse agency and investment department.  Koen was promoted to an Equity Partner in 2004.

Eric is leaving Cushman & Wakefield by the end of 2010 (then Healey & Baker) after 26 years.  During his successful career at the firm, he ran the retail agency team for ten years, set up a separate retail investment department in 1993 and became Managing Partner of the Brussels office in 2002 in succession of John Travers.   He was appointed Equity Partner in 1995 and is also a member of C&W’s EMEA Board and chairman for The Netherlands, Greece and Germany.

At Redevco Eric will succeed the current Managing Director Marc Van Heddeghem.   As already planned some time ago, Marc will retire at the beginning of 2011.  Marc has been leading Redevco Belux since 2003 and has successfully managed the merger between GIB Immo and Redevco which took place in 2001. This merger, with a real estate value of €1,35bn, is still the largest real estate transaction that ever took place in Belgium and was brokered by C&W at the time.

Paul Bacon, CEO of Cushman & Wakefield in EMEA said: “Whilst we are sorry to see Eric go we are delighted that he has been able to realise his long term ambition to work client side and in particular, we are pleased that he is doing so with such an important client of the firm.   Our long term succession plan comes into effect with Koen Nevens taking the helm and we look forward to him continuing the success of our market leading operation in Belgium together with the rest of the senior management team that has been responsible for the success of the office for the last decade. ”

Eric Van Dyck said: “It was a very difficult decision to leave the firm after 26 very enjoyable years but with the last third of my career in front of me I decided the right time had come to change my professional environment.   This is a fantastic opportunity to work for one of the most respected private investors in market and to utilise my in depth retail expertise and knowledge of Redevco’s portfolio.  Redevco is a much valued and long standing client of the firm and I intend to continue that close working relationship in my new role.   I have every confidence that Koen and the whole management team and staff in Brussels will go from strength to strength and will continue the success story that the firm has always been.”

Jaap Blokhuis, CEO of Redevco Europe and Asia, said: “After the GIB Immo acquisition in 2001, Redevco, under the leadership of Marc van Heddeghem, has developed into a highly successful and dominant player in the Belgium retail real estate market.  In anticipation of van Heddeghem’s retirement, it was crucially important for Redevco to appoint a successor with an equally strong reputation and skill set. Redevco is very pleased to have agreed terms with Eric van Dyck, who is very well qualified to continue the existing successful business model of upgrading the Belgium retail environment.”
