Sean M. Henrick, an associate director for Cushman & Wakefield of Illinois, has been named
as the recipient of the 2009 Frank Mahoney Award of Excellence by the Association of Industrial
Real Estate Brokers (AIRE).
The award, which was created in the early 1990s, is named for beloved former AIRE member
Frank Mahoney and given annually to an AIRE member with less than five years of brokerage
experience who best exemplifies the organization's high standards for performance, ethics and
community service.
"To receive an award named after a man such as Frank Mahoney is a tremendous honor
indeed," said current AIRE President Matt Rogatz. "We are confident that Sean will
continue to carry on Frank's legacy and the high ideals of AIRE, which include ethics,
education and cooperation."
Henrick, 29, is a member of the industry-leading industrial and technology services group at
Cushman & Wakefield. He specializes in business development and client services including
the structuring and negotiating of commercial leases and assisting with the acquisition and
dispositions of property for industrial owners and users.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008 he was recognized as one of Chicago's top 25 leasing brokers by the
CoStar "PowerBroker" program and, in 2008, was named by Cushman & Wakefield as
the company's "Most Promising Transactional Professional." In addition to his active
membership in AIRE, he is also pursuing his CCIM designation and is also a member of NAIOP,
WERC and the U.S. Green Buildings Council.
"Sean is the personification of the esprit de corps philosophy that we have worked to
instill at Cushman & Wakefield," said Aaron Block, head of Cushman & Wakefield's
Chicago office. "His enthusiasm, tireless work ethic and team-first mentality are
contagious to everyone he interacts with. I am confident that he is going to become an even
bigger star in our company and in our industry in the years to come."
Aside from his professional pursuits, Henrick is also involved in a wide variety of
community activities here in the Chicago area. He tutors needy Chicago Public Schools students
preparing for college entrance exams as part of the Griffith Tutoring Group and serves on the
Children?s Memorial Hospital Young Associates Board helping to organize fundraising events and
