Cushman & Wakefield's highly experienced Atlanta-based Land Team of Ron Willingham, Matt
Hawkins, and Pierce Owings, in partnership with Harvey Gilbert and Bill Lattimore of C&W's
Savannah affiliate Gilbert & Lattimore, has brokered the sale of approximately 20,000 acres
of raw land along Georgia's picturesque southeastern coast. Engaged toward the end of last year
by the Sea Island Company to market this rare opportunity, the Atlanta-based team credits their
success to their exclusive focus on land transactions.
"We've always specialized on land deals and that's given us a tremendous advantage when
it comes to understanding investors, identifying buyers, and working with lenders," said
Matt Hawkins, Director. "Our strong relationships were a significant factor in closing
this complex deal, which involved multiple banks in an extremely difficult land market. We are
pleased to have been given the opportunity to represent an important Georgia client such as the
Sea Island Company."
Land investment company Stratford Land purchased four prime properties on the Georgia
coast from Sea Island Company, totaling approximately 20,000 acres. Stratford Land invests in
land in high-growth regions of the United States.
The four parcels that Stratford Land purchased were:
- Big Pasture
- Little Pasture
- Altama
- Sinclair
The purchaser's attorney was Sam Thomas, while Sea Island was represented by Jim Gilbert and
Fleming Martin, of Gilbert, Harrell, Sumerford and Martin, PC.
Gilbert & Lattimore is an independently owned and operated member of the Cushman &
Wakefield Alliance.
