  • Clarks Leases Third Retail Unit In Germany

    28 Jun, 2011, Frankfurt

The British shoe manufacturer Clarks has leased another retail unit in the Düsseldorf pedestrian zone. The space at Flinger Strasse 41 is the third German location where the company is opening one of its own stores, after Bremen and Nuremberg. The new location in Bremen opened in May, and the new store in Nuremberg opened a week ago. Further flagship stores are to follow.

Clarks, founded in 1825 by the brothers Cyrus and James Clark, has been considered the strongest shoe brand in Great Britain since 1950, and it is the largest shoe retailer worldwide, with some 1,400 stores under its own brand, of which 450 are franchises. The company sells over 52 million pairs of shoes annually, earning turnover of more than £1 billion.

According to Clarks, the turnover from the newly opened stores is exceeding the plan. The space in Düsseldorf has a total usable area of approximately 200 square meters, and is currently still being used by Levi's.

Clarks has received consulting exclusively from Cushman & Wakefield in the UK for many years. The Düsseldorf Clarks store was also procured with the cooperation of Cushman & Wakefield in Germany and IKP Kuchenbuch & Partner. In Germany both companies have taken on a joint marketing order for Clarks. Currently IKP is looking for space for Clarks in Berlin and Munich.

The new Clarks store in Düsseldorf will open in spring of 2012.
