Mais Óptica, one of the foremost chains of opticians in Spain and Portugal, opened its 20th
store in Portugal in July. Located in Centro Comercial Colombo, in Lisbon, this will also be
the brand's long for flagship store occupying 152 sqm.
C&W was responsible for this placement and the entire expansion of the Mais
Óptica chain in Portugal since 1998, when the brand opened its first store in Portugal, in the
district of Aveiro.
The Spanish chain has embarked on a major expansion in Portugal ever since, in order to
establish the brand as the standard setter in quality of service, optical healthcare and
fashion.
Carles Pla, the managing director of Mais Óptica, says “We are continuing to bet on the
Portuguese market, and are going to open more stores and rebrand a number of national opticians
under the Mais Óptica brand. We are supported by Cushman & Wakefield in this mission, which
has been a key partner in our expansion, helping to find opportunities and make the most of
them. Their professionalism, advice and unparalleled knowledge of the market are their greatest
virtues".
According to Isabella Jurado-Blanco, associate of Cushman & Wakefield's retail
department in Portugal and in charge of the Mais Óptica's expansion "it has been a
pleasure working with this highly experienced co-operative retailer since the brand began its
expansion in Portugal. We have worked alongside Mais Óptica in the search of stores, and in the
negotiations and renegotiations of the respective contracts throughout our mandate".
In recent years Cushman & Wakefield has been in charge of the expansion of several
national and international retailers in Portugal, such as Aldo, Claires, Virgin Active,
Primark, Game and others.
