Cushman & Wakefield announced today that The Family Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization
that provides expert social and legal services, including health care and wellness programs to
New York families struggling with crisis or loss, has signed a 15-year lease at 1295 Fulton
Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, expanding its presence in Brooklyn.
The Family Center will occupy 10,500 square feet on the entire third, fourth and fifth
floors of the office building. The organization, which has outgrown its nearby space at 584
Nostrand Avenue, occupies 14,000 square feet at its headquarters location at 315 West 36th
Street in Manhattan. The new location will house The Family Center's diabetes prevention and
control program, its Brooklyn-based child welfare program, and a new mental health clinic
scheduled to serve 250 children and youth and their families annually.
Cushman & Wakefield, led by Carri Lyon represented the tenant in the transaction. David
Muessel of CPEX Realty represented the landlord, Ash Management Realty.
"There's a growing demand for these services in the Brooklyn area and The Family Center
is one of the expert providers being called upon to establish clinics and programs to serve
this community," said Ivy Gamble Cobb, Executive Director of The Family Center.
"The organization has outgrown its current space in Brooklyn and with new services and
programming planned, 1295 Fulton Street offered an opportunity for The Family Center to occupy
three contiguous floors in an easily accessible location," said Carri Lyon, a Cushman
& Wakefield Senior Director.
The Family Center provided its unique legal, social and health-care coordination services to
over 900 families last year. With this number expected to exceed 1,000 vulnerable families in
2012, The Family Center welcomes contributions to support its work keeping New York families
stronger, longer. Visit www.thefamilycenter.org to learn more.
