Carpisa, a retail chain offering handbags, accessories and luggage, is opening its first
stores in Poland. Cushman & Wakefield, a leading global real estate services firm,
represented the tenant in the lease of stores at the Bonarka City Center in Kraków and the
Atrium Targówek shopping centre in Warsaw.
Founded in 2001, Carpisa offers handbags, suitcases, briefcases, wallets and other fashion
accessories for both men and women. All its products are designed in Italy and new items reach
the shelves of its stores every week.
The Bonarka City Center is the largest shopping centre in Kraków. It was opened in November
2009 and offers 91,000 sq.m of leasable space. The Atrium Targówek shopping centre was
constructed in 1998 and, following its extension in 2001, it now provides over 50,000 sq.m of
leasable space.
At the end of 2011, Carpisa had 490 stores, including 435 in Italy, totalling over 44,000
sq.m of retail space. Carpisa will take up 65 sq.m of retail space in its new store in Kraków
to open in July. The store in Warsaw was opened on 16th June and it has 117 sq.m.
Szymon Łukasik, Associate, Retail Department of Cushman & Wakefield, said: “Carpisa
enters the Polish market as part of its global strategy. It has 69 stores (end of June) outside
Italy and plans to open 100 new units within the next two years. Poland is a major target of
the company’s expansion.”
In both transactions Cushman & Wakefield represented the Fashion Investment Group, which
holds the licence to develop the franchising system of the Carpisa brand in Poland.
