Austin-based firm joins the fast-growing Cushman & Wakefield
Alliance Program
Cushman & Wakefield, the world’s preeminent commercial real estate services firm,
announced today it has formed an alliance with Oxford Commercial, a full-service commercial
real estate services firm. The Austin-based firm previously operated as Colliers Oxford
Commercial.
The new alliance serves to strengthen Cushman & Wakefield’s local market presence
and scope of services in Texas by aligning with the leading local firm, while enabling Oxford
Commercial to utilize Cushman & Wakefield’s global reach.
Effective December 15, 2006, Oxford Commercial joins the Cushman & Wakefield Alliance
Program, an association of 20 leading regional commercial real estate firms in strategic U.S.
markets. On a global basis, Cushman & Wakefield operates 195 offices in 55 countries.
Oxford Commercial is a leading local firm, with more than 20 Austin-based brokerage
professionals. It has played pivotal roles in the city’s largest transactions, including
representing Silicon Laboratories Inc. in its purchase of a former CSC building in downtown
Austin; marketing the 711-acre Mueller airport redevelopment project; and handling site
selection for Hewlett-Packard Co.’s 320,000-square-foot data center in Southeast Austin,
which was completed alongside Cushman & Wakefield brokers.
“We’re pleased to welcome Oxford Commercial to the Cushman & Wakefield
Alliance and build our presence in the Austin market,” said Dave Lawton, executive
managing director of the firm’s Alliance Program. “We are committed to
providing our clients best-in-class services and market knowledge, both on a global and local
level. Oxford Commercial is the leading full-service firm in Austin, and we believe that our
clients will benefit significantly through this addition to our Alliance Program.”
“The Cushman & Wakefield Alliance Program will open new avenues, allowing us to
serve our clients on a global basis, while still retaining local ownership,” said Spencer
Hayes, president and managing partner of Oxford Commercial.
The new alliance marks Cushman & Wakefield’s return to the Austin market.
Cushman & Wakefield first opened an Austin office in 1985. In 1993, it sold the office to a
small group of employees, and the firm began operating by the Oxford Commercial name. Colliers
International acquired the company in 1997, and its name was changed to Colliers Oxford
Commercial. In 2004, the firm’s local principals bought back the Austin office from
Colliers International, retaining the Colliers affiliation.
In 2005, Cushman & Wakefield negotiated the purchase and sale of more than $35 billion
in commercial real estate office properties, making it a world leader. The firm completed
transactions with a total aggregate value of $69 billion in 2005. The firm also manages 430
million square feet of commercial real estate globally and employs the most MAI-designated
appraisal professionals of any firm in the commercial real estate industry.
