Gene Spiegelman

Biography

 

Gene P. Spiegelman has been an active participant in the real estate industry for the past 24 years. His knowledge of retail site selection, development and leasing, and negotiating business terms essential to retail transactions have distinguished him in the field.  Mr. Spiegelman specializes in the urban, luxury and the specialty retail niche, having extensive experience in both retailer and landlord representation.

Mr. Spiegelman was recognized as C&W’s leading retail producer in 2008, 2007, 2005, and 2004 consistently ranking among the firm’s top real estate professionals.  He is a member of C&W’s Global Retail Executive Committee, participating in the firm’s retail expansion initiatives.

As a specialist in negotiating complex retail transactions, Mr. Spiegelman was awarded the Real Estate Board of New York prestigious Retail Deal of the Year award in 2001 and again in 2008.  In 2001, he represented Crate & Barrel in a lease totaling 48,000 sf at The Cable Building in Manhattan’s NoHo Historic District.  In 2008, the lease of the former Gucci flagship on Fifth Avenue to Diesel earned him the honor once again.

As a highly experienced tenant representative and leading representative of premier urban retail property, Mr. Spiegelman has completed numerous high-profile transactions over the course of his career.  Noteworthy transactions include: Diesel at 685 Fifth Avenue; Ferrari at 410 Park Avenue; Prada at 724 Fifth Avenue; Levi Strauss at 536 Broadway; Esprit at 110 Fifth Avenue; Crate & Barrel at 611 Broadway; CB2 at 451 Broadway and 979 Third avenue; Ugg and Burberry Brit at 160 Columbus Avenue; Sherry Lehman at 505 Park Avenue; Zara at 1961 Broadway, West Elm and Best Buy at 1880 Broadway, and Century 21 at 1972 Broadway.

Mr. Spiegelman is a widely quoted industry expert who received a Masters degree in Real Estate Investment and Development from New York University and is a graduate of the University of Maryland. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, International Council of Shopping Centers, Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association, and the Intrepid Foundation.
