Sustainability Advice

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) covers a spectrum from business ethics, governance and accountability, to human rights, the environment and community investment. It also takes into account the way employers treat their workforce and the fundamental principles of the business - its mission and vision.

The traditional real estate model for acquiring space has generally been dominated by economic and market factors - not environmental ones. But there are clear strategic implications and significant business benefits that accrue to a business when it takes the environment into account. In addition, we recognize that the revision of various codes on corporate governance will result in a considerable increase in the transparency of listed companies governance arrangements.

Cushman & Wakefield leads the real estate services industry in researching and adopting CSR and sustainability policies in its processes and practice, having developed such polices with DuPont and BP, among other market leaders. We extend our learning experience and knowledge to our clients throughout our client endeavors.

In 2004, we were recognized at a ceremony in New York City for our efforts in promoting, endorsing and using renewable energy sources throughout New York State. Our work with MCEnergy enabled our clients, including the Ford Foundation, MetLife and Walton Street Capital, to make use of clean, renewable energy sources.

In Brazil, we assumed environmental responsibility for a Johnson & Johnson program to revitalize the riverbank of the Pinheiros River, in the heart of São Paulo.
